What is it about being stuck at home that makes you want to snack all day? So far I’ve had my morning coffee and French toast for breakfast. Several minutes later I was back in the kitchen nosing around the cabinets and sticking my head in the fridge. I came out of the kitchen with a banana. Several minutes later, back in the kitchen for a repeat performance. This time I have a bite of peach cobbler. It’s only 10:30. Am I really hungry or just bored? Why do I keep picking up that package of chocolate chips and dreaming of hot cookies appearing from the oven?
The oven... the warm oven on a very cold day. Hubby talked of cleaning it last night. I never smelled anything burning, so he probably ran out of time. If I turned on the self cleaning feature now, my house would stay toasty warm for the next three hours. Too bad it will stink like heck.
Speaking of stink... today is the first day I've thought about making a fire in the fireplace. If it weren’t for the smell of smoke and the burning ashes to clean up later, I would want to light one. Oh yeah, and the trip into the cold for firewood is a turn off too. It is raining ice outside. Looks like snow, sounds like rain, but it is ice. I would love to have one of those electrical fireplace inserts in this brick wall instead of this wood burning fireplace. Just press a button and you have a warm smoke-free fire. Sounds romantic too, doesn’t it?
You know what else sounds romantic? Baking your Sweetie chocolate chip cookies. I’m just saying...

Oh, how I hate those days when I can't get myself out of the kitchen. It's some popcorn and then some grapes and then a little ice cream and before you know it I'm knee deep in chocolate going where the heck did I go wrong?!
This is why I like the internet. It keeps me occupied.

The same thing's been happening to me all day, I've developed a much closer relationship with the kitchen than I thought possible. I'm going to blame it on the ice-sleet-snow stuff.

I'm in the same boat and very much considering making shortbread just because it's the latest thing to sound so good and because I think it's a long time before the Girl Scout cookie orders arrive. Ice makes me hungry.

Yesterday, I ate 3 times more than I do on a normal day. All I did all day was lay on the couch, watching tv and eating snacks

I fight the same impulses. Sometimes I win; sometimes not. What probably helps me a little is that I'm so compulsive. I have my cereal with fruit for breakfast. Then a cup of coffee. Just one. Then around 11 a.m. I have one of those Activia light yogurts. Then lunch... Seem to follow pretty much the same schedule. It's those darned little chocolates I keep passing by that I grab and pop into my mouth!
