Chicken for the Dogs
We boil chicken breasts every weekend to feed to the dogs. It gets chopped and divided. Half goes in the freezer for later in the week; the broth too.
We microwave a small amount of chicken and broth, or the following mixture, and put it on top of their regular dry dog food (Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites Lite) every evening. We always want them to eat the dry food, in case something should ever happen and we are not able to cook for them. Plus this is a good quality dog food full of vitamins and minerals, with added Glucosamine and Chondroitin for healthy joints.
Mix the cooked chicken and chicken broth with leftover pasta or rice. Add low sodium green beans or peas and carrots. You can add garlic powder; it’s supposed to help repel fleas. Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on top if your dogs like it.
My dogs also enjoy crumbled bacon and reduced fat cottage cheese.
Dogs have food preferences and allergies just like people, so be careful when trying anything new.
